Auth-AIS: Secure, Flexible, and Backward-Compatible Authentication of Vessels AIS Broadcasts

چکیده
Automatic Identification System (AIS) is the de-facto communication standard used by vessels to broadcast identification and position information. However, being AIS communications neither encrypted nor authenticated, they can be eavesdropped spoofed adversaries, leading potentially threatening scenarios. Existing solutions, including ones conceived in avionics domain, do not consider integration with standard, provide protection against rogue messages flooding. In this article, we propose Auth-AIS, a secure, flexible, standard-compliant, backward-compatible authentication framework secure messages. Auth-AIS leverages existing sound cryptographic tools, TESLA Bloom Filters, inheriting their security properties while contextualizing them technology. software-only solution, that seamlessly integrated into deployments, without requiring any hardware replacement. Its innovative design also provides backward-compatibility—i.e., received users adopting renouncing at its guarantees. work either two configuration modes: Deterministic Security Configuration, able achieve low-delay message overhead of 75 percent, or Probabilistic reducing down 35.71 experiencing marginal increase delay. All these configurations guarantee an 80 bits equivalent level false-positive rate less than 2 --40 . Note latter parameters easily tuned fit different requirements. Finally, source code GNURadio ecosystem has been released as open-source, foster research activities from both Industry Academia on communications.

AIS and Semantic Query
The semantic web has created various exciting opportunities to explore. Here we present a nature inspired solution to one such opportunity; that of semantic queries for information retrieval. We take our inspiration from the human immune system and develop an analogy between antibodies and queries. Successful antibodies are those that are activated by an infection. These antibodies are stimulat...

In response to the changing terms of competition in business, traditional accounting is becoming AIS – a growing subdiscipline of IS. Visionaries see accounting of the future as primarily an IS discipline as the field changes into a technologydriven information system profession. The challenge for accounting education is to keep pace with the transformation of the profession. This study uses da...
متن کاملSpace-Based AIS Performance
The performance of a space-based Automatic Identification System (AIS) receiver, can be estimated in terms of the probability of detection of an uncorrupted ship’s AIS message. Signal collisions arising from other ships outside its selforganizing cell often limit performance. A probabilistic approach based on Poisson statistics is adopted to predict this. The method takes account of the ability...
